Homemade Cinnamon Play Dough Recipe (Smells Both Cozy and Magical!)

Bring a little warmth to your sensory play with this cozy, cinnamon-scented play dough. It’s soft, simple to make, and safe for little hands, perfect for sparking imaginations on cooler days. Whether you’re setting up a pretend bakery or exploring natural scents, this homemade dough will become a favourite in your playtime toolkit.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups plain flour

  • 1 cup salt

  • 2 tbsp cream of tartar

  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon (adjust for scent strength)

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1.5 cups boiling water (add gradually)

Optional: A drop of vanilla extract for extra warmth in the scent

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar, and cinnamon.

  2. Add the vegetable oil and stir.

  3. Carefully pour in the boiling water a little at a time, stirring constantly.

  4. Once cool enough to handle, knead the dough until smooth and pliable. If it’s sticky, add a touch more flour; if it’s dry, a splash more water.
