Let’s Get Squishy With It: How to Make Jelly Slime at Home
Squishy, sparkly, and oh-so-satisfying!
If you’re looking for a fun sensory activity that’s simple to make and magical to play with, this homemade jelly slime is the perfect choice. It’s stretchy, jiggly, and gives little hands a gentle workout while providing calming sensory feedback. Best of all, it’s easy to whip up with ingredients you may already have at home.
Whether you’re making this for a playgroup session, a rainy afternoon activity, or just because your child is obsessed with slime (we get it!), here’s everything you need to know.
✨ Ingredients:
6 oz clear glue
A few drops of food coloring (any color you like!)
1/2 teaspoon baby oil (adds shine and stretch)
1/2 teaspoon instant snow (optional but adds that awesome jelly texture)
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon contact lens solution (make sure it contains boric acid, this is what activates the slime!)
🥣 Instructions:
In a bowl, combine the clear glue, food coloring, baby oil, instant snow, and baking soda. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes. This gives the instant snow time to expand and create that signature jelly texture.
Slowly add in the contact lens solution, a little at a time, stirring until the slime begins to come together.
Once it pulls away from the sides of the bowl, knead it with your hands for a few minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
Play and enjoy! Store your jelly slime in an airtight container to keep it fresh.
💡 Playtime Tips:
Add glitter or biodegradable confetti for extra sparkle.
Try using pastel food colors for a soft, dreamy slime.
Use it as a calming sensory tool during quiet play.
This slime is a great way to explore textures, cause-and-effect, and creative expression through hands-on learning. It’s also a soothing activity that kids love to revisit again and again.
Have fun squishing!
