Postpartum Fitness & Gentle Movement

After giving birth, your body has been through an incredible journey.

It’s grown, stretched, and birthed life — and now it’s healing and adjusting.

Postpartum fitness isn’t about “getting your body back.”

It’s about reconnecting with it, moving in ways that feel good, and celebrating what your body can do now. 🌿

🌸 Start Small

You don’t need hours at the gym or intense workouts. Small, consistent movement can make a huge difference:

  • Gentle stretching while your baby naps

  • Short walks outside with a pram

  • Light yoga or pilates at home

  • Dancing in your lounge room (baby optional)

Even five or ten minutes of focused movement helps your body feel strong, alive, and connected. 💛

🌿 Listen to Your Body

Every mum’s postpartum journey is different.

Some feel ready to move within weeks, others take months — and that’s okay.

Check in with your body:

  • Are you feeling pain or discomfort? Pause or adjust.

  • Are you tired or overwhelmed? Rest first.

  • Do certain movements feel liberating? Do more of those!

Movement is about joy and connection, not punishment or perfection.

🕊️ Focus on Function, Not Form

Instead of worrying about aesthetics, focus on:

  • Strengthening your core and pelvic floor

  • Improving energy and mood

  • Gaining flexibility and mobility

  • Feeling confident in everyday movements like lifting, bending, and carrying your baby

Your body just did something extraordinary — now it’s about helping it feel capable and comfortable again. 🌸

🌼 Include Your Baby

Movement can also be a bonding activity:

  • Gentle baby-and-mum stretches

  • Walking outside together in a carrier or pram

  • Dancing with your baby to favourite songs

  • Baby yoga or tummy-time games that get you both moving

It’s playful, fun, and a sweet way to reconnect physically and emotionally. 💛

🌙 Be Patient & Kind

Progress might feel slow — and that’s okay.

There will be good days and harder days.

Celebrate every little victory:

  • You stretched without pain

  • You managed a short walk

  • You lifted your baby with ease

Every step counts, and every step is you showing up for yourself. 🌿

💕 A Gentle Reminder

Postpartum fitness isn’t a race.

It’s a way to reconnect, recharge, and remind yourself that your body is amazing, capable, and resilient.

Move with love, not pressure.

Listen to your body, rest when it asks, and celebrate every little step forward. 💛
