Fluffy Kinetic Sand Slime: Chemistry in Action!

This one is so cool! Easy to make and impossible to put down (yes, I mean for grown ups).

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup clear PVA glue

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda (helps activate the slime)

  • 1–2 tbsp contact lens solution (must contain boric acid and sodium borate)

  • 1/2 cup kinetic sand

  • Optional: a squirt of foaming hand soap or a few pumps of foaming facial cleanser for a fluffier texture

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, pour in the clear glue.

  2. Add the baking soda and stir well.

  3. If using, add a small amount of foaming soap to give it some fluffiness and softness.

  4. Gradually mix in the kinetic sand, starting with 1/4 cup and adding more until you like the texture.

  5. Slowly add the contact lens solution, a few drops at a time, stirring continuously. The slime will begin to pull away from the sides.

  6. Knead with your hands until it’s no longer sticky but still stretchy.
